BJP opposes merger of 33 villages in GHMC

The Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded the State government to withdraw the proposal of merging 33 Gram Panchayaths in Ranga Reddy district with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, BJP State vice president S. Malla Reddy regretted that Ranga Reddy district was losing its identity and Rajendranagar, Saroornagar and Quthbullapoor mandals would disappear if 33 Panchayaths were merged with GHMC. He alleged that the government was not following proper system to merge villages with GHMC. He said that poor and middle class people of 33 villages would face high taxes if the villages were merged with GHMC.

Malla Reddy demanded the government to immediately stop the proposal of merging Cyberabad Commissionrate with City Police Commissionerate. He also wanted 33 Panchayaths be upgraded as Municipalities instead of merging with GHMC. He demanded the State government to convene an all party meeting in this regard.

BJP Ranga Reddy district President T. Anjan Kumar and general secretary Bokka Narsimha Reddy were also present. (NSS)
