BJP floor leader in Telangana State Assembly Dr K. Lakshman today appealed to the TRS Government to rethink on the proposed Kalabharathi Building at NTR Stadium and withdraw the G.O.No.73 transferring the stadium land from GHMC to Cultural Department. The multi- mega auditorium can be planned elsewhere where unused land was available in plenty.
In the letter addressed to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in this regard on Sunday, Dr Laxman stated the government’s proposal for construction of a multi-mega auditorium in the 14-acre open playground at NTR Stadium was being opposed by the citizens. The local people want open spaces protected and utilized for playgrounds and parks. As per the GHMC Master Plan, the space is demarcated as open space and playground. The constructions in a park or playground would be prejudicial to the public purpose, Laxman added. (NSS)
