New Delhi, May 19: The abrupt removal of Delhi Assembly Secretary Siddarth Rao by the state government has not gone down well with the Opposition BJP which has termed it as a move to overpower the legislature.
A delegation of BJP MLAs led by leader of Opposition Vijay Kumar Malhotra met Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna over the recent removal of Rao and posting an officer of DANICS cadre in his place.
“This is not only an act of open interference by the state government in Delhi Legislative Assembly, but it is also an instance of the executive attempting to overpower legislature. This interference on the part of the government is against established conventions,” Malhotra said.
He said the act also lays ground for it to interfere in the working of the House as well, which is totally against democratic norms and the Parliamentary system.
