Saamna has urged PM Narendra Modi to take a firm stand on the Ram temple issue.
Stating that the Ram temple can be built “now or never”, Saamna said the devotees of Lord Ram would feel “frustrated if the current regime dubs their demand for temple as religious bigotry”.
In an editorial on Friday, Saamna backed BJP MP Vinay Katiyar’s demand that the Centre should bring in fresh legislation and clear the decks for the construction of the Ayodhya temple.
“The PM should not leave devotees high and dry,” remarked the Shiv Sena mouthpiece. “Ram temple is a matter of deep concern for crores of Hindus,” said Saamna, indicating that the Sena was ready to ally with the radical section in the RSS-BJP parivaar on the vexatious temple row.
“When polls come, Muslims are appeased, while Hindutva parties revive the Ram temple issue. However, it is given a burial after the polls are over,” Saamna added.
Saamna said BJP chief Amit Shah’s statement that the Ram temple issue could be considered only if the party won 370 seats in the Lok Sabha has triggered unease among hardcore Hindutva supporters.
