Mysuru: An FIR has been filed against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Lok Sabha MP Prahlad Joshi for making offensive remarks against Muslims. Joshi had allegedly told media that weapons are being stored in a mosque.
The complaint was lodged by Mohammed Hanif at Kasba police station in Karnataka’s Hubli district, where Hanif accused BJP leader of inciting remarks against Muslims on March 25. The BJP is currently campaigning in poll-bound Karnataka.
During his visit to Sadarsofa, Joshi had reportedly said that “Sadarsofa had become a ‘mini Pakistan’ and that weapons were being stored in the local mosque”. Joshi reportedly made the statement while he was at Guru Sidappa’s house, a resident who was murdered this month, said a daijiworld report.
Joshi has been booked under sections 153 A (promoting enmity between religious groups) and 298 (uttering words with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person) of the IPC apart from other sections.
Prahlad Joshi was in limelight recently after he mistranslated BJP president Amit Shah’s speech in Kannada saying, “Narendra Modi will not do anything good for Dalits. He will destroy the nation”.
