Bengaluru/ New Delhi [India]: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday took a dig at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for defending Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on ‘dynasty politics’ and said that neither of them deserves to be the leaders of their political parties as they have been given leadership on a platter by their parents.
Speaking to ANI, BJP leader GVL Narshimha Rao said that these political parties be it Samajwadi party, Congress or others they have functioned more like” private limited companies” where children inherit the wealth of families or parents.
“Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi are on the same boat. Neither of them deserves to be the leaders of their political parties as they have been given leadership on a platter by their parents. And these political parties, be it Samajwadi party, Congress or others, they have functioned more like private limited companies where children inherit the wealth of families or parents… people of India have taught a serious lesson to these people as they have got what they deserve,” he added.
Another BJP leader, S. Prakash said with Akhilesh Yadav again supporting Rahul Gandhi shows that they cannot do away with politics of dynasty.
“He (Akhilesh Yadav) himself is the product of a dynasty politics in Uttar Pradesh. His entire clan is in Parliament and inherited his father’s legacy in Uttar Pradesh. His support to Rahul Gandhi once again reiterates that Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi cannot do away with politics of dynasty,” he added.
Yesterday, Akhilesh defended Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on ‘dynasty politics’ and said that there were several examples of the dynasty in politics not only in India but also in other countries in the world.
Addressing a press conference, Akhilesh said, “‘We have many examples in history where people adopted the profession owing to family background,” Akhilesh, who is the member of one of India’s biggest political family.”
He also cited the example of the United States of America, where he said the wife (Hilary Clinton) of a former president ran for the presidency while the son of another former president (George H W Bush) also went on to occupy the top post.
While speaking at the University of California, Berkeley recently, Rahul had said that India runs on dynasty politics. ( ANI)
