BJP MLA joins congress

New Delhi: Col. Manavendra Singh, BJP MLA and son of former Finance Minister Jaswant Singh, has, along with his family members, joined Congress party today. Manavendra Singh represents Shoe Legislative Assembly constituency in poll-bound Rajasthan. Singh met AICC president Rahul Gandhi here in the morning today and joined the party.

Singh’s coming into Congress fold just before elections will surely dent the prospects of BJP in Rajput dominated Balmer-Jaisalmer region. Earlier, Singh has represented Loksabha from Balmer-Jaisalmer Constituency before deciding to contest for an assembly seat in 2013.

Manavendra Singh was suspended from the BJP for his campaign against BJP candidate during 2014 Loksabha elections. Singh was not happy with BJP top leadership because his father, Jaswant Sing, was denied Loksabha ticket. Jaswant Singh is not only a veteran leader but also a founding member of BJP.
