BJP MLA goes on hunger strike protesting water crisis

Alwar (Raj), April 27: Taking a cue from social activist Anna Hazare, a BJP MLA in this district of Rajasthan went on a hunger strike today protesting severe shortage of drinking water in his constituency.

Bansur MLA Rohitash Kumar Sharma said he was forced to take the step as all his requests and appeals to the administration to fix the crisis had gone unheeded over the last six months.

However, hours after the announcement of his hunger strike, the administration sought five days time to correct the situation, according to Sharma.

The MLA said he and his supporters had suspended the agitation for the five days to see if the government acts this time.

“The situation has been very bad in my constituency, particularly in the Hameerpur village. Out of utter frustration, I had to resort to this step.
