BJP MLA demands action against accused in mosque demolition

BJP MLA Abdul Sageer Khan today demanded stern action against those who were involved in the illegal demolition of the ancient mosque in Bhilwara district.

In the state Legislative Assembly today, he said the people of the Muslim community were angry after the demolition
of Kalandiri mosque in Pur village on April 19.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, he raised the issue and stormed to the Well of the House, but Speaker
Deependra Singh Shekhawat assured him that he will allow him to speak on the issue after the Question Hour, following which he returned to his seat.

Later in the day, after being allowed to speak by the Deputy Speaker Ramnarayan Meena, Khan said that the mosque was sold to a private company by Anjuman committee for Rs 65 lakh to make way for mining works.

He said the demolition of the mosque was against the Islamic law and all the accused who were involved in this act
should be arrested.

Minister of state for Home, Virendra Beniwal said four persons have been arrested in connection with the demolition
and the reconstruction of the mosque has already been started.

Beniwal said the government is quite serious about such sensitive matters.
