Fatehpur, December 05: Accusing the BJP of misguiding people on the issue of FDI in retail, Union Coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal on Monday said the move would help in controlling prices.
“The BJP is misguiding people on the issue of FDI in retail sector which will help control prices,” Jaiswal, on way to Allahabad from Kanpur, told reporters here.
The Union minister said his party always took decisions which were in the interest of country and its people without caring for criticism.
The FDI in retail was also a step in this direction as the move would help consumers and farmers and root out middlemen, he said.
The BJP manifesto also promised FDI but now when the Congress was implementing it, it (BJP) was opposing it, Jaiswal said.
On creation of new states, he said the Union government was seriously considering setting up of a state reorganisation committee to recommend carving out of new states.
Referring to the manner in which the UP Assembly passed a resolution to divide the state into four parts, Jaiswal said it was an important issue and could not be decided in three minutes.
“It should be given a serious thought by evaluating all aspects,” he said.
Jaiswal alleged the “most corrupt” Uttar Pradesh government was misusing central funds.
