Hyderabad: Police foiled “Chalo Pragati Bhavan” rally of the State BJP party with the arrest of almost all the State leaders, including its president Dr K Laxman.
The BJP has given a “Chalo Pragati Bhavan” call for submitting a memorandum to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao demanding revocation of externment orders against Sripuram pontiff Swami Paripoornananda. Security personnel were deployed at the residences of BJP MLAs and other leaders to prevent them from leaving their houses. As a precautionary measure, police took into custody of Telangana BJP leaders at various places in the city and shifted them to different police stations.
State BJP chief Laxman was arrested at the Old MLAs Quarters and shifted him to Trimulgherry police station. The arrested include MLA G Kishan Reddy and MLC Ramchender Rao. They have decided to proceed towards Pragati Bhavan from the Assembly building. Before his arrest, Kishan Reddy said the Chief Minister did not give an appointment to BJP leaders, who wanted to meet him. “We have written a letter seeking the CM’s appointment. But, no appointment was given”, he said.
Condemning the externment of Swami Paripoornananda, Kishan Reddy said this act was enacted during regime of erstwhile Nizam. KCR was implementing Nizam government’s rules, he alleged. The government should immediately re-consider its decision and withdraw externment orders, he demanded. (NSS)
