BJP leader hacked to death

A Diamond Harbour BJP leader, Shaktipada Sardar (45), secretary of state BJP’s Mandal Committee was hacked to death in Mandir Bazar of South 24 Parganas on 27th July. This is not the first time that a BJP worker has been targeted in Bengal. Earlier, on May 31st, a BJP worker’s body was found hanging from a tree in Balarampur, West Bengal.

Shaktipada Sardar was returning home last night when miscreants attacked him with a sharp weapon and left him bleeding on the road. When the local people spotted Sardar lying on the road they rushed him to Diamond Harbour Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, the hospital referred him to another hospital in Kolkata. However, he died on the way, police said.

The West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh said that they are being attacked in the state because it is the main opposition party. The party lodged a complaint against local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders who denied the allegations. Saying “We have nothing to do with such attacks on BJP leaders,” a statement released by the TMC leaders.”
Amit Shah tweeted to express condolence. In his tweets, Shah said the life of young BJP worker, Trilochan Mahato, was “taken under the state’s patronage” because his ideology was different from that of “state-sponsored goons”.
