Darjeeling: Bharatiya Janta Party’s president of Bengal, Dilip Ghosh, was allegedly assaulted by local miscreants. The incident took place on Thursday which forced Ghosh to abandon a public meeting and take refuge in the police station.
Ghosh was in Darjeeling to attend a public meeting, however, he faced forceful protest due to which he had to leave the venue. The state president was attacked by a group of Morcha supporters allegedly belonging to the faction of Benoy Tamang, reports Economic Times.
However, the Darjeeling Police on Friday arrested two people for allegedly manhandling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in the district.

BJP leader along with his associates were chased from the venue, where they were holding a Vijaya Sammilani programme. According to him, the attack happened a kilometre away from Darjeeling police station.
Ghosh said that the attack was pre-planned and miscreants were chanting the name of Benoy Tamang. However, an FIR has been filed by the BJP leader.
Local Gorkha leaders from different outfits such as the Jan Andolan Party (JAP) and the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) have been demanding that the BJP clarify its stand on the demand for Gorkhaland.
