Chandigarh: After offering Rs 10 crores for beheading actress Deepika Padukone, Haryana BJP leader Suraj Pal Amu, the chief media coordinator of state unit, has resigned on Wednesday.
But to everyone’s surprise, the BJP leader now have dreams of slapping people. He spoke to the reporters and said, “Now my dream is to slap Farooq Abdullah on Lal Chowk, I challenge him to meet me there,” according to ANI.
His resignation comes in the backdrop when he was asked an explanation over his controversial remarks in connection with Bhansali’s Padmavati. In his resignation letter to the BJP chief Subhash Barala over WhatsApp, Amu said he was upset over chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
“I am hurt with the behaviour of the CM with Rajput leaders yesterday (Tuesday). There is a group of unwanted people surrounding the CM which is taking him away from party’s hardworking and dedicated people,” Amu said in his letter.
According to him, the CM had allegedly skipped a meeting with Karni Sena on Tuesday. Though the chief minister’s schedule did not mention any such appointment, the Rajput leader maintained that he had given time for it.
Standing firm by his statement on Padmavati, Amu said he has no regrets and the movie has hurt the sentiments of a community.
Amu was booked for his comments against Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the SHO of Gurgaon’s Sector 29 police station, Vikas Kaushik, said. Meanwhile, the Haryana BJP distanced itself from Amu’s remarks and said he had made them in his personal capacity.
