Hyderabad: State BJP senior leader and Karwan former MLA Baddam Bal Reddy passed away on Saturday. He was 73.
Balreddy was ailing from cancer for some time. He was admitted to a corporate hospital in Banjara Hills on February 10 and breathed his last on Saturday. His body was taken to his residence in Banjara Hills on Road No. 12. Family sources said the BJP leader’s cremation will conclude at Mahaprasthanam in Banjara Hills on Sunday evening at 5 pm.
Balreddy was BJP activist and won three times from Karwan Assembly seat of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He won the seat in 1985, 1989 and 1994 Assembly elections. In 2004, he was the target of an assassination attempt by members of a group trained by the ISI. One of the conspirators Syed Zakir Raheem was arrested in 2017 while the main accused Farhat Ullah Ghori, is a fugitive.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed his condolences on the demise of former MLA Baddam Bal Reddy. He conveyed his heart-felt condolences to the members of bereaved family. The CM recalled services rendered by Balreddy in public life.
Similarly, all the BJP leaders like Dr K Laxman, BJP national general secretary P Murlidhar Rao, senior leader and former Union minister Bandaru Dattatraya, BJP leader in the Council N Ramchendar Rao, former party leader in Assembly G Kishan Reddy and several others recalled his services and bemoaned his untimely death.
