BJP launches campaign for Bawana by-poll

New Delhi: The BJP today launched its campaign for the August 23 Bawana by-poll by opening contact offices of its candidate Ved Prakash.

The by-election for the Assembly seat 23, is likely to be a triangular contest between the BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Prakash, who won the seat in 2015 on an AAP ticket, resigned as an MLA in March. Subsequently, he quit the AAP to join the BJP.

Senior Delhi BJP leaders, including its president Manoj Tiwari, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Vijender Gupta, MPs Parvesh Verma and Udit Raj, are actively taking part in the campaigning.

Verma, the party in-charge for the by-poll, said “The BJP will win the by-election as it has approved the land-pooling policy, which will benefit the rural population.”

Meanwhile, Poonam Sehrawat, the Nangal councillor, today joined the saffron party in the presence of Tiwari, who welcomed her and said it would help the party in the by-poll.

North-West Delhi MP Udit Raj and Gupta inaugurated the public contact offices of Prakash at the Bawana Chowk and Prahladpur village.
