The Bharatiya Janata Party will soon launch Jai Andhra agitation demanding bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a massive public meeting at Nizam College Grounds here on Saturday to mark the conculusion of Telangana Poru Yatra, BJP state unit president G Kishan Reddy said that the party would start ‘Jai Andhra’ movement to send a strong message that both sides were willing for division of the State.
Kishan Reddy said that the Telangana movement has already created a psychological divide between Telangana and Rayalaseema and the BJP would formalise the geographical divide if National Democratic Alliance comes to power in 2014 elections. He reiterated that a resolution in the State assembly or the States’ Reorganisation Commission were not required for the formation of Telangana.
Requesting Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to introduce Telangana Bill during the budget session of the Parliament, he assured that the BJP would support the bill in both the House of Parliament.
Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu accused the Congress party of going back on its promise of Telangana. He said the Congress party, in its 2004 election manifesto clearly supported formation of Telangana. However, now in 2012, the party is trying to present a confused picture on the statehood issue. He also slammed Telugu Desam Party for not clarifying its stand on Telangana.
Venkaiah Naidu said that the BJP would form Telangana by passing a bill in the Parliament, if it comes to power in 2014 elections. (INN)
