Chadigarh, April 24: The Kisan Morcha of BJP will organise ‘model workshops’ across the country from May to pressurise the Centre on issues concerning the peasantry.
A decision to this effect was taken by the two-day national meeting of BJP Kisan Morcha under the presidentship of OP Dhankar here.
Addressing reporters after the conclusion of the meeting, Dhankar said that the morcha was strongly opposed to seed bill, pesticide management bill and biotechnology authority bill.
“By these bills, powers will be with the Centre and it will benefit only a few multi-national companies and state rights will be in the hands of the Centre…all these are anti-farmer steps,” he said.
He alleged that assessment of the cost of production of a crop is generally inappropriate and much below the aspirations of the farmer community. “We will launch a movement against it,” he added.
