Holding the vote bank politics of the Congress responsible for the Assam violence, Uttar Pradesh BJP today launched statewide ‘save Assam, save nation’ campaign from which will continue till August 28.
The state BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here today that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is MP from
Assam but despite this why he has failed to implement the accord signed by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
“The Bangladeshi infiltrators have become grave concern for the the entire nation,” he said. The state BJP
spokesman said under the ‘save Assam, save nation’ campaign, the party workers held an agitation at Patel
Crossing in Kanpur today besides such events taking place in other districts including Lalitpur, Unnao, Bahraich,
Shrwasti. “The campaign will go on till August 28 and during this period agitations will be held in every
district,” he said.
Meanwhile, the state BJP has asked UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav that what action has been taken against
those who indulged in violence in the state capital on August 17. “Though the police registered the case of
violence against 15 people but not a single arrest has been made so far despite the fact that police have been given the video footage, pictures and CDs identifying the violent people,” said Mr Pathak.
The state BJP spokesman demanded the Chief Minister to refrain from the politics of vote abnk and let the rule of
law prevail in the state. “Who is responsible for the inaction? police itself or the order from the top echelon
of the government,” asked Mr Pathak adding that the people of the state capital were feeling insecured as the goons
were at large due to vote bank politics.
