BJP has no commitment on Telangana: Congress MPs

Congress MPs of the Telangana region on Tuesday participated in a meet-the-press program organized by the Telangana Journalists Forum here.

Speaking on the occasion, Manda Jagannatham alleged that the BJP, despite posing to be a champion of the ‘T’ cause, had no commitment towards the statehood issue. He pointed out that BJP members in the Lok Sabha were the first to insist on their suspension when they raised the ‘T’ issue and blocked the proceedings.

Jagannatham has asserted that all the Congress MPs of Telangana were committed to the statehood cause and would not withdraw their struggle. He also made it clear that they were only asking the Congress-led UPA government to implement its commitment towards forming Telangana State and were not fighting against the Congress High Command. He said that they would all be going to New Delhi to participate in Parliament session on Wednesday and would once again voice the concerns of the people of the region. He said that they were all prepared for any sacrifice on the separate State issue. He called upon the students and youth of the region not to lay down their lives for ‘T’, but to live and fight for statehood to the region.

SEEMANDHRA LEADERS SABOTAGING T

MP Vinod has alleged that Telangana formation was getting delayed because of the betrayal of the Seemandhra leaders. He alleged that Seemandhra leaders were giving misleading reports to the Congress High Command and scuttling the efforts of Telangana leaders.

PC SHOULD ELICIT OPINIONS: RAJAIAH

MP Sircilla Rajaiah has said that Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram was singing the same old song. He said that Chidambaram should also state the opinions of various parties as informed to the government, in his monthly reports on the performance of his department. He said that Chidambaram should immediately call an all-party meeting to know the opinions of different parties on the ‘T’ issue.

WE DON’T WANT PACKAGES: PONNAM

Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar has said that the Telangana people were interested only in statehood and not packages or special offers. He said that he and other Congress MPs were inviting all the like-minded protagonists of Telangana to New Delhi, to wage a common fight against the government on Telangana.
Allam Narayana, Editor of the ‘Namaste Telangana’ newspaper, who spoke in the meeting, said that Telangana Congress MPs had once again launched their fight against their own party on the ‘T’ issue. He said they were only demanding their party to implement its own promise and nothing else. (NSS)
