BJP has links with ultras: Digvijay

Guwahati, March 16: AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh today accused the BJP of having links with the banned ULFA.

Asked to comment on the alleged Congress-ULFA link, Singh claimed it was the BJP which has links with the banned outfit.

On the recent peace initiative with the ULFA, Singh, who is in charge of the party in Assam, hoped that the organisation’s elusive commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah, known for his anti-talk stand, will come out of hiding for negotiations.

BJP national spokesman Prakash Javadekar denied Singh’s charge by alleging that the Congress was trying to win the ensuing assembly election through the support of the ULFA.

On the dissidence among the party’s seat seekers, the AICC leader said there was bound to be some anger among the hopefuls.

“All are our political workers and we will talk to them and convince them.
