CPM Politburo Member BV Raghavulu today criticized that the BJP Government at the Centre and State Government are resorting to suppress the working class and labourers from enjoying their rights. As part of the International Workers Day at Makineni Basava Punnaiah Bhavan along with party leaders including Tammineni Veerbhadram who unveiled the party flag, Raghavulu launched a scathing attack on the governments for adopting anti-labor policies. Both the Governments are implementing the policies against the welfare of the workers and labor class, he charged. He accused the governments of destabilizing the labour Acts only to suppress the working class from their rights.
Raghavulu further charged that the working class is still struggling to eke out their livelihood besides a large chunk of workers in unorganized sector are put to misery of joblessness and reeling under terror of deprival of employment opportunities. At this juncture, no welfare measures have been taken so far by the BJP led NDA Government the CPM politburo member alleged. The CPM has to intensify its protest programs nationwide to press the Centre to do something for the working class he said. Veerabhadram criticized that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao failed to keep manifesto promises including lakhs of jobs and welfare steps for the workers. He attributed the anti-people policies of the TRS Government to the comments made by Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao. He found fault with the government for distributing sweets among themselves during May Day event and later forgetting to take necessary steps. The minister should make comments that will not hamper the interests of the labour class. (NSS)
