BJP Govt. has totally failed to handle drought situation: Congress

Opposition leader in the Karnataka Legislative Council S R Patil today alleged that the ruling BJP government in the State had failed to handle the drought situation in the State.

Mr Patil, who is leading a team on tour of drought hit villages in the District, told newsmen that ‘though the state is reeling under draught farmers and cattle facing sever drinking water and fodder problem the State government is sitting ‘deaf and dumb’. The BJP government took oath in the name of farmers while assuming power in 2008 and even came out with a separate budget for Agriculture but has failed to implement the budget proposals and come to rescue of the suffering farmers. The funds released by the Union government under various projects like MGREGA, CRPF were not utilised. Mr Patil condemned the foreign tour of MLAs saying though the state has facing sever draught but the government is allowing MLA’s for foreign tour this shows how much the government is concerned about the farmer. Formers Minister H K Patil, MLC Allama Prabhu Patil, Sedam MLA Dr Sharana Prakash Patil, Mahima Patel were other members of the Team that visited drought hit Belamagi, Salgar, Aland and other villages.
