New Delhi: Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh East, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh alleging that it doesn’t take the responsibility of paying the dues of sugarcane farmers in the state.
In the backdrop of BJP’s “Main Bhi Chowkidar” campaign, she said that BJP is like a ‘Chowkidar’ (watchman) who cares only for the rich and ignores the poor.
“The families of sugarcane farmers tirelessly work all day and night but Uttar Pradesh government doesn’t take up the responsibility of paying them their dues. Rs. 10000 is due of the farmers that means the education of their children, food, health and their next crop all have stopped. These chowkidars do the duty of rich only, they don’t care about poor,” tweeted Priyanka Gandhi.
The 17th Lok Sabha election will be held in seven phases beginning April 11. The final phase of voting will take place on May 19. The counting of votes will be done on May 23.
