Srinagar, January 06: As the sitting state president of Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party state unit completes its term on January 8, the party would get its new president on January 9, party sources here today said.
The race for the new party president has gained movementum with just two days left for the appointment of new head of the state affairs, sources said.
Four contenders so far are in the race, including Mayor Kavinder Gupta, general secretary Shamsher Singh Manhas, MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma and senior leader Bali Bhagat, party sources told UNI.
Sources, however, said the new party chief would be elected by the state cadre.
Meanwhile, sitting BJP state president Ashok Khajuria, when contacted, said, The names cannot be disclosed but the new president will be one who remained active in party working.
