Panaji, April 05: Opposition parties led by BJP today forced adjournment of the Goa Assembly demanding sacking of controversial Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate, who was detained at the Mumbai airport for trying to smuggle Indian currency outside the country.
As soon as the House met for the day after a long weekend, Leader of the Opposition Manohar Parrikar demanded an adjournment motion to discuss the matter.
Parrikar demanded that the Minister be sacked as he was found trying to smuggle Indian currency outside the country on Saturday.
Speaker Pratapsingh Rane, however, did not allow the motion and instead called for the Question Hour.
When Chief Minister Digambar Kamat stood up to make corrections in written replies, opposition members rushed to the Well forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House till lunch.
