New Delhi, December 01: The BJP today slammed the Delhi government for “further burdening” the citizens by announcing hefty hikes in water tariff in the national capital.
Terming the hike as an assault on the residents, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly V K Malhotra said the “80 to 200 per cent increase” in tariff will make life extremely difficult for the citizens.
“It is clear that the Sheila Dikshit government has taken the people of Delhi for granted after her third consecutive win,” Malhotra said.
“People are already burdened with increased power tariff, sewerage charge and bus and Metro fare,” he said.
Malhotra said that the “government is extracting the cost of its own inefficiencies from the people of Delhi.”
The senior BJP leader also claimed that the Government was preparing ground for privatisation of water supply in the city.
