The State BJP has demanded that the State government withdraw cases filed against the ABVP activists, who staged a dharna before the Chief Minister’s camp office demanding that the government continue the Fees Reimbursement Scheme as it is unconditionally.
In a statement here on Monday, BJP Floor leader Yendla Laxminarayana stated that the ABVP has a right to lodge protest against the State government, which retained power in 2009 by promising to continue the Fees Reimbursement scheme. He stated that the police swung lathis on ABVP activists, who were protesting in a peaceful manner. He also alleged that the police had applied third degree methods on the agitators after registering cases under Sections 147, 148, 353 and 448 IPC and sent to jail.
Condemning the police action against the ABVP activists, Laxminarayana stated that the ABVP activists organized the protest because of the State government’s apathy in implementing the Fees Reimbursement Scheme. (NSS)
