Hyderabad, October 05: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bandaru Dattatreyya on Tuesday demanded that the state government release a white paper on the current power situation in the state.
Talking to media persons at party office in Nampally, Dattatreyya condemned the state government for its failure to supply adequate power to farmers. He demanded that the state government release all details of both hydel and thermal power generation, purchases from outside the state and the statistics related to demand and supply gap.
Dattatreyya asked as to why the state government did not initiate steps to tide over the power crisis although the employees from the department served strike notice in advance. He challenged Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for a public debate on the power situation in the state.
Responding to a query about stoning of buses allegedly by Telangana activists in Nalgonda district, he said that his party would not support violence at any cost. He appealed to all Telangana activists to continue the agitation in a peaceful manner.
He took serious objection over Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s lukewarm response on Telangana state when the leaders approached him seeking an early decision on issue. As a responsible Prime minister, he should handle the Telangana issue in more responsive manner, he stated.
