New Delhi: The BJP’s Delhi unit on Monday urged the AAP government to issue a White Paper on the Delhi Jal Board’s working since it had failed to ensure proper water supply despite getting water from Haryana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Manoj Tiwari alleged that the Delhi residents were forced to buy drinking water.
“We urge the Arvind Kejriwal government to call an all-party meeting and issue a White Paper on the board’s working,” Tiwari told the media here.
“It is shameful that in Delhi, where the government talks of giving assured free water supply to all, the reality is that the poorest of the poor are forced to buy drinking water from the open market,” Tiwari said.
“In many areas, the water crisis has aggravated due to supply of dirty water by the Jal Board,” he added.
He alleged that the Jal Board does not have a timetable for water supply, unlike in the past.
“Delhi is getting its proper share of water from Haryana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, but it is really shocking that people are still facing acute water shortage,” the BJP leader said.
