BJP demands rollback of hike in petrol prices

New Delhi, December 14: BJP today demanded a rollback of hike in petrol prices, saying this was the fourth increase in the last six months and was “totally unwarranted and unjustified”.

“The fourth consecutive price hike of petrol in the span of six months is totally unjustified. And the Rs 3 increase is total injustice to the people who are using petrol, which is not a luxury but a necessity. The price increase is phenomenal and illogical,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.

He insisted that when the price of crude oil was

140 per barrel in the international market, the prices were increased to that tune.

“But when prices tumbled to

70 per barrel they (government) reduced only by Re 1. And now for the small rise from

70 to

90, you are burdening the customers with Rs 6 per litre in the span of 6 months.
