BJP demands removal of KVP from public security chief post

Hyderabad, August 18: The State BJP on Tuesday demanded that the government remove Dr K V P Ramachandra Rao from the post of Public Security Affairs Committee (PSAC) chairman. It alleged that the State was reeling under murders, dacoities, rapes and extremism leading to law and order problem due to failure of the government.

Speaking to the media here, the party’s official spokesperson, Mr N V S S Prabhakar, has urged the State government to remove Dr KVP from the PSAC chairman post owning moral responsibility for the failure of public security in the State under his tenure.

Detailing the State crime graph, Mr Prabhakar said that the crime rate has increased drastically in 2010 when compared to 2009. He said that 972 kidnaps took place by the end of June this year and 1509 kidnaps were took place entire 2009 year. He also alleged that 24,251 rape cases were registered in 2008, 21,482 in 2009, but in 2010 already 11,371 rape cases were registered.

Mr Prabhakar asked Dr KVP what sort of actions were taken against the crime and how many meetings were conducted under his chairmanship of PSAC and the advisor of the state government.

Citing examples of Parkwood principal’s rape of a student at Vikarabad, arrest of a gurukul teacher in Visakhapatnam while enjoying liquor, blue films and a woman, a vice-principal’s sexual assault on a student in Kodad, Mr Prabhakar said that it was shameful to the State which has a woman Home Minister.

He also alleged that Dr KVP had succeeded in providing security to the political dacoits, mining mafia, scamsters and rowdisheets but failed in providing protection to the public as chairman of PSAC.

The spokesperson also alleged that Dr KVP had his hand in every irregularity like Bayyaram mining lease, Emaar Properties, Sompet firing. He also alleged that Dr KVP was providing security to all the scamsters bringing disgrace to the State government.

The BJP leader said that it was very bad that the State government was not responding regarding mine issues while the Centre has appointed a Commission to look into the mining irregularities following Karnataka government’s pressure.

Expressing doubts over the State government’s intention in not responding as against the Centre’s immediate response, Mr Prabhakar demanded that the State government stop iron ore exports immediately.
