The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday demanded detailed enquriy through an independent agency into the Vizag Steel Plant accident that claimed many lives.
Talking to reporters after visiting the VSP plant, BJP State president G Kishan Reddy said that the negligence of officials and management was responsible for the accident. He said enough safety measures were not taken in the production unit which led to the accident.
Kishan Reddy demanded that the State Government pay an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore to families of workers killed in the accident besides giving government job to one member of their family. He also demanded stern action against those responsible for the accident.
Regarding Parkal by-elections, he said that all parties have conspired together to ensure the defeat of BJP’s candidate in the Parkal constituency. He said that Telangana Rashtra Samithi should honour its claim that it would get statehood for the region in the three months. He said people would teach TRS a fitting lesson if it fails to ensure formation of Telangana State in the next three months. (INN)
