The Bharitya Janata Party on Wednesday came down heavily on the State Government for the alleged financial irregularities in the implementation of Jalayagnum project works.
Talking to media persons at party office at Nampally, BJP spokesman NVVSS Prabhakar alleged that despite the Planning Commission, Public Accounts Committee and Comptroller and Auditor General of India indicting the State Government over the financial irregularities in the Jalayagnum works, the government has totally failed to respond on the issue.
Prabhakar demanded that the government immediately order a probe into the omission and commissions in the implementation of Jalayagnum works as thousands of crores of rupees have been misused. He demanded severe action against those responsible for the irregularities.
The BJP leader also slammed the government for its failure to get national project status to the Polavaram and Pranahita-Chevella irrigation projects. Though three Chief Ministers claimed that they would get national project status to these projects, he said that they have totally failed in their efforts. “The government should make concerted efforts to get national project status by mounting pressure on the Centre,” he demanded.
Prabhakar also accused the government of shielding six tainted Ministers, who were served notices by the Supreme Court in connection with issue of controversial GOs. Instead of dropping the Ministers from the cabinet and conducting probe, he alleged that the government was directly protecting them from the enquiry.
Stating that BJP was in no way connected to the violence in the Osmania University, Madannapet, Saidabad and Sangareddy, he alleged that the ruling Congress and MIM have hatched a conspiracy to target BJP in the State. He said that the government could conduct probe into violence and take serious action against perpetrators of violence in the incidents. (INN)
