BJP demands judicial probe in land allotment to Emaar in Andhra

Hyderabad, August 16: BJP today demanded a judicial probe in the alleged land allotment scam to a private firm by Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).

Several influential political leaders and others have benefited in the scam in land allotment by APIIC to Emaar Properties, state BJP president G Kishan Reddy told reporters in Hyderabad.

He said only a judicial probe would bring out the truth in the scam worth about Rs11,000 crore.

Demanding cancellation of all MoUs signed between the state government and Emaar properties, Reddy said the government should take over the land and cancel the registrations and transactions of the firm.

The land was alloted to Emaar Properties in 2002 by signing an MoU towards a joint venture. However, the stake of APIIC came down to 26 from 49% whereas Emaar’s stake increased to 74 from 49% after Congress party came to power in 2004, Reddy claimed.

Earlier in the day, speaking after hoisting the National Flag at party office in Hyderabad, he said Congress was hurting the spirit of democracy by using CBI to target opposition parties.

BJP activists should be prepared to fight the misuse of CBI by Congress, he added.
