BJP demands immediate hanging of Afzal Guru

New Delhi, May 19: Scores of BJP workers today staged a protest here demanding immediate execution of Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru.

Led by party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra, the activists gathered at Jantar Mantar and shouted slogans against the Congress-led government.

The protesters tried to march towards Parliament House but were blocked by police near Parliament Street police station.

Police resorted to use of water canons when some tried to break the security cordon and march towards Parliament.

Addressing the agitators, Naqvi said the terrorist has no religion.

The BJP also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit asking her to immediately clear the file regarding Guru and sent it to Union Home Ministry.
