BJP demands Dikshit’s arrest for CWG ‘bunglings’

New Delhi, April 27: Keeping up the pressure on Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, the BJP on Tuesday demanded her “immediate arrest” on the basis of the Shunglu Committee report which blamed her for alleged irregularities in certain CWG projects.

“We demand immediate arrest of Dikshit. She should have been arrested immediately after found guilty by Shunglu Committee,” Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta said, addressing a party rally organised to demand action against Dikshit.

Alleging Dikshit’s involvement in CWG bunglings, Gupta said his party will intensify its agitation if “visible action” was not taken against her.

Slamming Dikshit for rejecting findings of the Shunglu Committee, Gupta alleged that by trashing the report, the Chief Minister has challenged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who had appointed the probe panel.

“Prime Minister had appointed him as the Chairman of the Committee for impartial enquiry. By rejecting the Shunglu report, she has actually challenged the Prime Minister,” Gupta said at the rally attended by hundreds of BJP supporters.

The city government had rejected the findings of the panel as a “product of paranoia”.
