Hyderabad, August 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday accused the State Government of converting the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam board as the rehabilitation centre for Congress leaders.
Talking to media persons here on Saturday, BJP spokesperson MVVS Prabhakar said that the Congress party was promoting corruption and irregularities even in a religious body like the TTD. He said lot of irregularities and scam have occurred when the TTD Board was chaired by the Adi Keshavulu Naidu and Karunakar Reddy. Demanding a CBI enquiry into the irregularities, Prabhakar said the government must stop the TTD as a political tool.
Prabhakar said after the Adikeshavulu’s term came to an end, the State Government constituted a Specified Authority for the TTD. However, the same has been scrapped and the old TTD board structure has been retained. The BJP spokesman asked as to what the state government has achieved by constituting the Specified Authority and what prompted the government to restore the TTD board.
The government must give a satisfactory answer as to why it was experimenting with the functioning of a prestigious religious body which also happens to be among the richest religious institutions. He said a thorough probe the CBI would expose the irregularities committed in the TTD in the past by the ruling Congress party leaders.
The BJP spokesman said that it was during the NTR’s regime that a State Lok Ayukta was constituted to deal with corruption at higher levels. He demanded that the State Assembly pass a resolution granting more powers to Lok Ayukta. He also accused TDP President Chandrababu Naidu, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Chiranjeevi of indulging and promoting corruption in the State.
Speaking about Governor ESL Narasimhan’s recent visit to New Delhi, the BJP leader accused the Governor or misrepresenting the facts about the current political situation in the State. The political scenario in the state is extremely volatile and the administration is almost dysfunctional, but the Governor gave an impression that there is complete political stability and peace in the State.
