BJP criticises joint statement of Indian & Pakistani premiers

Hyderabad, July 18: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leader M Venkaiah Naidu today said the country was shocked to hear the joint statement of Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan, which sand action on terrorism should not be linked to the ‘Composite Dialogue’ process and described it as ”a complete surrender from the Indian side”.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Naidu said the joint statement had sent a wrong message to the countrymen, as it was against the sentiments sweeping across the country, particularly after the ”Pakistan-inspired terrorist attacks on Mumbai in November last year”.

The BJP leader alleged that the entire country was agitated and felt let down by the Centre’s action. Terrorism against India was different from thanin Pakistan, as it was in-house terrorism, he added.

Mr Naidu said the Centre had been publicly reiterating at every opportunity that dialogues could be resumed only if Pakistan gives enough proof about its intentions of acting against its nationals who attacked Mumbai on November 26 last year, and also take steps to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism on Pakistan soil.

He alleged that Pakistan had not taken any positive steps and the release of Jamaat-ud-dawa Hafiz Sayeed, the kingpin behind the Mumbai blasts, was a clear indication about its nefarious designs.

The BJP leader said, over the years, India had become a victim of terrorism inspired by Pakistan, while terrorists within Pakistan were locally inspired and this was amply evident in the neighbouring country’s policy of fighting against terrorists on the western side while encouraging terrorism on the eastern side.
