BJP to contest from all 150 GHMC divisions

Hyderabad, October 31: The State BJP has decided to contest from all the 150 divisions in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in the coming elections and will release the first list of candidates besides the manifesto on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference, State BJP president Bandaru Dattatreya and MLA, G. Kishen Reddy, said the party was confident of winning a majority of divisions as both Congress and Telugu Desam have failed to make any impact on the development of the city though they come up with tall claims.

Both these parties have failed to address the pressing problems faced by people in the city like traffic snarls, shortage of drinking water, clogged drains, pathetic roads besides having to endure host of diseases.

To a question, they said the party would concentrate on door-to-door campaign and focus on poor civic amenities, failures of Congress and TDP and exposing the unwritten understanding between Congress and Majlis. Another senior leader, K. Laxman said the government has set a bad precedent by extending reservation based on religion to Minorities within the Backward Classes doing grave injustice to the latter.

Later, at a meeting of State BJP and city BJP officer bearers meeting, the party decided to highlight the failures of the State government and the promises not fulfilled by the Congress in the ensuing elections.
