BJP complains to CEO over highhandness of CI

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today complained to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Bhanwarlal against Atmakur Circle Inspector assigned for Parkal Assembly Constituency for preventing the celebrations of Bathukkamma and Bonalu as part of the election campaign. In a representation to Mr Bhanwarlal, a copy of which was released to the media here, the BJP said as part of election campaign, some supporters of the party performed Bathukkamma and Bonalu. “As your are well aware that Batthukkamma and Bonalu are asocial customs in which people from all walks of life, irrespective of religion, caste and creed, participate. Inspector A Kishore Kumar is giving his own interpretation on the Batthukkamma and Bonalu celebrations by terming them as religious programme.

The Inspector also repeatedly stopped the election campaign vehicles for hours together on the guise of checking,” the BJP complained. In another representation, the BJP complained to CEO that the government-controlled electricity department was influencing voters in the poll-related districts by by providing uninterrupted power supply in the Assembly segments where by-elections would taking place.
