BJP claims to reap benefit of MCD polls in 2014 LS polls

Observing that the Municipal Corporation Delhi (MCD) poll outcome was a barometer of public mood, the BJP today claimed that it will reap benefit in 2014 general elections as the people were “fed up” with Congress for inflation, price rise and corruption in the country.
The BJP withstood anti-incumbency factor to win MCD polls as the people of Delhi wanted to teach the Congress
a lesson for its failure to tackle inflation, price rise and corruption, BJP’s Delhi unit co-incharge Ramnaresh Chaurasia told reporters.
Even the decision to trifurcate the MCD could not boost performance of the Congress in the recently-concluded
polls as the people were in no no mood to spare the UPA government at the Centre for its misrule, he said.
Chaurasia, a seasoned BJP leader from Bihar and also an MLA, said that the party has succeeded in carving a niche
among over 30 lakh people from Poorvanchal region settled in Delhi who by and large voted for the saffron party with as many as 12 of 17 candidates from Poorvanchal background winning the MCD polls.
With the Poorvanchal people constituting the fastest growing segment of population in Delhi and adjoining areas,
the BJP will turn the table on the Congress in next general elections by riding on the strong support from the people of the eastern states, the senior BJP leader said
