Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Mar 12 (ANI): Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the splendid win in politically crucial state, Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Keshav Prasad on Sunday said the victory shows that trust of the people in the former’s governance has increased.
Responding to a poser about him being one of the front runners for the Chief Minister’s post, Maurya said the BJP central leadership will take a final call in this regard by the end of the day.
“We have won this election under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Uttar Pradesh results exuded that the trust of the people of the state for Modi ji has increased since 2014. This victory is a result of the Modi wave,” said Maurya.
“I am the state president and am fulfilling all duties. Rest my party will take the decision and the announcement will be made by evening or late night today,” he added.
The BJP Parliamentary Board will meet this evening in New Delhi to decide the names of the Chief Ministers in the states where it has got the majority to form the government.
The party has performed well in the assembly polls of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
Briefing the media in New Delhi yesterday, party president Amit Shah said the Chief Ministers would be chosen on the basis of merit and capability.
Shah also informed that ahead of the Parliamentary Board meeting, the party workers would felicitate Prime Minister Modi for his leadership resulting in overwhelming victory in the state assembly polls.
Breaking its all previous records, the BJP won 312 seats in Uttar Pradesh. Its allies Apana Dal won nine seats while Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party won four seats. The Samajwadi Party won 47 seats. (ANI)
