BJP appears to be keen on applying breaks to the aggressiveness of the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao at his Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha seat. The party is taking into its fold Nagar Kurnool independent MLA Nagam Janardana Reddy who left TDP to fight for Telangana.
Nagam who hobnobbed with the TRS for some time after leaving the TDP however distanced himself from the party as he did not like the style of functioning of KCR. He has been aligning with the BJP in recent times.
Nagam who participated in the Sri Rama Navami celebrations at the BJP office, came to Delhi along with state party president Kishan Reddy and met Raj Nath Singh, the party’s national president and greeted him on the occasion of Hanumat Jayanti. He felicitated Rajnath Singh with a shawl. The three were closeted.
Talking to the media later he said he was confident that only the NDA led by BJP was capable of creating the Telangana state.
When the media asked him if he would be joining BJP, he said he never said he would not. He has explained that he would discuss with supporters of his organization and take a decision.
Nagam said he now became sure that Congress would not concede Telangana. He said he was even beginning to lose confidence on the very parliamentary democracy. He said he was confident that the BJP led NDA would announce Telangana a day after coming to power at the centre.
Meanwhile it is learnt that Nagam was eying for Parliament entry and might contest as BJP candidate from the Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha constituency. If this happens, he would be directly pitted against KCR who is presently representing the constituency in the Lok Sabha.(NSS)
