BJP backs APJ Abdul Kalam for President

The race for the Presidential elections has been hotting up with the main Opposition the BJP reportedly rejecting the name of Congress backed candidates on Monday. Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Vice-President Hamid Ansari’s name has been doing the rounds for the next Predident.

“BJP will never favour the candidature of Ansari and Mukherjee,” Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha said today. The BJP also said that if Mulayam Singh Yadav favour the name of Kalam then thy will support the Sanajwadi Party.

The BJP on the other hand has backed the candidature of former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam. This is the first time the BJP has come our openly favouring the name of Kalam, clearly putting the name of the choice of the President’s candidature’s name on the agenda.

The main Opposition categorically said that they would no way support the name of Ansari and Mukherjee. Sushma Swaraj also said that they in no mood to compromise.

The BJP also said that if Mulayam Singh Yadav favour the name of Kalam then the will support the Sanajwadi Party.

Senior party spokesperson of the party Ravi Shankar Prasad added they back the statement made by Swaraj.

Meanwhile, as per sources a key ally of the Congress backed UPA government at the Centre, the DMK has prima facie rejected the name of the former President.
