New Delhi : Taking strong exception to reports of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi being made the party chief soon, the BJP on Wednesday said this move would emerge as a clear example of dynasty politics on the part of those referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the ‘shahenshah’.
Taking a dig at the Congress president for referring to Prime Minister Modi as ‘shahenshah’, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said Sonia Gandhi’s ‘shehzada’ (prince) being crowned is a perfect example of the ‘shahenshaiyat’ (dynastic politics).
“We are hearing news that Rahul Gandhi would be made the Congress president, it is their internal matter. But till yesterday Sonia Gandhi was referring to Prime Minister Modi as a ‘shahenshah’ and today we are hearing the news of her shehzada’s (prince) coronation. The entire nation now is watching what the ‘shahenshaiyat’ (dynastic politics) actually is,” Patra told ANI.
“After remaining the Congress president for years, she is now passing the mantle to her son. Is it democratic or undemocratic? Isn’t this ‘shahenshaiyat’ (dynastic politics)?” he added.
Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma on his part dubbed the Congress as a ‘sinking ship’, adding the entire nation is aware of Rahul Gandhi’s caliber.
Sharma, however, said it is the internal matter of the grand old party.
According to sources, Rahul Gandhi will soon be crowned as the Congress president.
The grand old party is also likely to make major changes in senior positions following a series of defeats in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and the recent elections in various states of the country. (ANI)
