Bharatiya Janata Party state president G Kishan Reddy on Saturday said that the State Government allot sufficient funds for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Tribes in the State budget.
Talking to media persons after paying rich floral tributes to constitutional architect Dr B r Ambedkar’s on his 122nd birth anniversary at the State party office at Nampally, Kishan Reddy said that the government should spend the SC/ST funds for their welfare without diverting them for other programmes. He also appealed to the government to enact a law to spend the SC/ST sub-plan funds for the welfare of under-privileged sections. The BJP would launch an agitation against the government if it fails to protect the rights of SC/STs provided in the constitution, he warned.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP former president Bangaru Laxman expressed concern over the misuse and diversion of SC/ST funds. He accused the State Government of misusing the SC/ST funds for other programmes and tampering with the budget figures. He alleged that the government was never committed for the welfare of SC/STs and always showed negligent attitude towards them.
If the government did not change its negligent attitude towards SC/STs, he said that the BJP would intensify its agitation against the government to protect their interests. (INN)
