New Delhi, April 25: The BJP on Sunday petitioned Election Commission against the partisan behaviour of Government officials in West Bengal, who were allegedly obstructing its leaders from addressing election rallies.
A party delegation, which submitted a memorandum to the EC, complained that their president Nitin Gadkari and senior leader Arun Jaitley were provided with wrong coordinates, as a result of which they could not reach their respective venues to address election rallies.
“This also posed threat to the life of these senior BJP leaders,” a memorandum submitted by BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman and others said. The party has named DMs of Howrah, North 24 Parganas and Nadia in its memorandum.
The party is also concerned about the use of black money in campaign and complained to the EC that both CPM and the Trinamool-Congress alliance was using ill-gotten wealth to canvass for their candidates.
“You have seized black money in other states that went to poll this time. We would also request you to crack whip of those who are using black money in campaigning in West Bengal,” the BJP delegation requested the commission.
