BJP and Congress are “Saanpnath-Naagnath”, says Mayawati

Mayawati today stressed that rather than form any alliance with either the Congress or the BJP in Chhattisgarh she would prefer to sit in the opposition, describing them as “Saanpnath” and “Naagnath” (both snakes).

She said neither party cared about the marginalized, the poor, the farmers and labourers. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is contesting the ongoing Chhattisgarh election in alliance with Ajit Jogi who is a Congress rebel and the first chief minister Chhattisgarh.

Her demand to contest more seats in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh than the Congress foiled, then the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister announced the alliance in September.

She stated that”We are confident of winning an absolute majority. There is no question of taking support from anyone. Even if we don’t get a majority, we will sit in opposition but will not go with either the BJP or Congress.”
