New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party’s senior leader and party General Secretary Ram Madhav admitted that his party may not get a majority in the Lok Sabha elections. Madhav’s statement came at a time when Party president Amit Shah, union minister Arun Jaitley and other senior leaders are claiming to get a majority.
He forecasts that it will require the support of allies to form India’s next government.
In an interview with Bloomberg News Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait in New Delhi on Saturday Madhav said: “If we get 271 seats on our own, we will be very happy.”
Ram Madhav said BJP is likely to be at loss in the north Indian states where it had registered a record victory in 2014 elections.
Mr Madhav said if they come to power they will proceed with their development policies.
